Week of April 4: There is not a homework packet this week, but there will be a writing assignment sent home tomorrow.
Week of February 28: This week's homework packet includes a biography reading comprehension of Beatrix Potter and Rabbit math. The packet is due Thursday.
Week of February 22: The homework packet this week is a bit lighter due to our shorter week. Homework is due Friday to allow the full week to finish. Students can always turn it in early if they have it finished.
No homework this week.
This week the students will have less homework because we are doing some challenging things in class and I don't want them to get burnt out. Don't be surprised if you don't see homework next week due to conferences.
January 24th homework packet includes: reading comprehension about money including some short answer writing prompts. 2nd and 3rd graders need to write a paragraph for the prompt "Tell about a magazine you like." The students also have some money practice and a long vowel review. Homework packets are due Thursday.
January 18th homework packet includes: addition and multiplication practice; a biome map to color code; a biome/habitat venn diagram to compare and contrast two biomes; and a writing prompt. You may need to help your student find a biome world map to use to find the biomes. We have talked about why certain biomes happen in certain places, but they may need a model to follow.
Most of you know that students are now receiving a weekly homework packet. Students will bring home a packet on the first day of the week, and it is due Thursday. If your student struggles to get homework done by Thursday morning, let me know and we can talk about some accomodations.
Wednesday, September 29 The math homework tonight may be difficult for your child. If they are struggling with it, here are some suggestions: remind them to count the apples for each tree. Each tree has 10 apples. If it is too frustrating, have them use the numbers on the chart to do some addition practice. I expect the third graders to be able to do this homework.
Homework has fallen into a pattern for our class. Mondays is usually reading comprehension or a book report. Tuesday is a writing prompt. For writing prompts, first graders should be able to write two or three sentences. Second and third grade can write a five sentence paragraph. Encourage your students to use descriptive writng by adding adjectives. Wednesday is math practice and Thursday is for science and social studies.
